Braxton's quickie for the day...
Email question: In your article, "Is Your Clitoris A Wallflower?", you make mention of phimosis in males. I am concerned that my 5 year old son may have this because he has difficulty retracting the foreskin in order to clean the glans. I asked my husband if he could recall similar difficulties at that age, but he could not. Could this be phimosis?
It's not unusual for boys to experience difficulty in retracting the foreskin, and this may hold true even up until the early stages of puberty. The overriding concern lies with any hygiene problems which might ensue.
At his next checkup (or sooner), you should discuss this with your son's doctor (an ounce of prevention...).
